I do hold it, in the royal order of gardens, there ought to be gardens for all months in the year; in which severally things of beauty may be then in season.

Allium (Globemaster)
Bulbous perennial with strap-shaped, gray-green, basal leaves, 14-36 inches long. Large umbls, 6-8 inches across (mine were 5-6"), of numerous star-shaped, deep violet flowers, are produced in summer. Stands above other flowers and stands out as a stellar flower by itself. Lasts for weeks in the vase and longer in the garden. A deep bright purple that slowly faded over the weeks in bloom. Wonderful. Bloomed through May 2006. If I could afford them, I would have many more. They would be stunning massed together, they are stunning by themselves! Recommend: Yes, as many as you can afford.
Tulip World, 3 bulbs.

CULTIVATION: Grow in fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Plant bulbs 2 - 4 inches deep in autumn. Alliums from areas with hot, dry summers may be best grown in sandy, soil based potting mix in an alpine house; keep dry when dormat.
PROPAGATION: Sow seed in containers in cold frame, when ripe or in spring; sow seed of A. schoenoprasum in drills in situ. Some may take 2 years to germinate. Remove offsets of bulbous species in autumn. Divide clump forming, rhizomatous species in spring.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Bulb rots caused by soil-borne fungi are common under damp conditions, especially immediately following planting. White rot, mildew, rust, smut, and various fungal leaf spots can occur. Susceptible to onion fly and thrips.
