Alchemilla (Lady's Mantle)
Valued for it's attractive foliage and frothy sprays of flowers. Most have woody rhizomes and shallowly to palmately lobed, rounded or kidney shaped, attractively pleated, often sily-haired leaves.

CULTIVATION: Grow in any moist, humus rich soil in sun or partial shade. De-head A. mollis soon after flowering, since it self seeds very freely. Cut back and water in summer to produce a freshnew flush of leaves in autumn.
PROPAGATION: Sow seeds in containers in a cold frame in the spring. Transplant seedlings while small. Divide in early spring or autum.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Slugs and snails may damage young foliage.

NOTES: Here (KY zone 6) my lady's mantle does better in partial shade to shade. Trouble with rain 2004 which cause leaf spots. Did not cut back until spring - end of March after new leaves first started to appear.

Zone: 3 - 7    -    H 7 - 1 Sun or Partial Shade.
Height: 12 inches Space: 12 - 16 inches
Bloom Time: mid summer Bloom Color: Yellow-green
