return to Perennials

Anemone (Japanese Anemone)
Vigorous, erect, woody-based perennial with suckering shoots and oval, usually 3-palmate, toothed, mid-green leaves, softly hairy beneath. Semi-double, pale pink flowers, 4 inches across, shaded purple on the reverse outer tepals.
I have not had any problems with this selection - one I consider care free. It is in partial to full shade by a creek. The grow/spread rate has not been a problem - In 3 years it has almost doubled in spread (it has not been invasive... yet).

CULTIVATION: Moist, fertile, humus rich soil in sun or partial shade. Some invasive once established.
PROPAGATION: Divide early spring or autumn.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Downy mildew, leaf and stem smut, powdery mildew, and rust are common. Susceptible to caterpillars, slugs, and flea beetles.

A. x hybrida 'Queen Charlotte'

Zone: 4 - 8    -    H 8 - 5 Sun or Partial Shade.
Height: 5 feet Spread: Indefinite
Bloom Time: July - August Bloom Color: Semi-double pink
