Centaurea (Centaurea Rose, Knapweed)
Spherical or hemispherical flowerheads with tubular, usually deeply lobed florets, the outer ones often longer and more spreading than the rest. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Excellent cut flowers.
2003 and 2004: Poor bloom and growth. Moved in autumn 2004 to butterfly bed. Will see how it does in new location. 2006: Came up in old location - beautifully in April. Looking better than ever. No idea what happened to the one I transplanted - LOL - nature overruled me.

CULTIVATION: Grow in well drained soil in full sun.
PROPAGATION: Divide in spring or autumn.
PESTS AND DISEASES: White mold, rust, downy mildew, thread blight, and Southern blight.
