Coreopsis (Tickseed) 'Baby Sun'
Long-flowering carefree daisy-like flowers. Useful in borders, as cut flowers or for naturalizing in meadows. Plants need full sun and average to poor soil that is well drained. Coreopsis is drought tolerant, but blooms more heavily with regular watering. Plants have a tendency to flop if soil is too moist or overly fertile. 2004: Not as prolific as 'Moonbeam'
CULTIVATION: Fertile, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Deadhead to prolong flowering. Drought tolerant.
PROPAGATION: Sow in a seedbed in midspring. Will flower the first year. Divide in early spring. Root basal cuttings in spring.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Slugs and snails feed on plants. Bacterial spot, rust, flower blight, aster yellows, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and many fungal spots can occur.
