Coreopsis (Tickseed) 'Moonbeam'
Pale yellow flowers in early summer nestled among attractive thread-like, deep black-green foliage. Coreopsis is the toughest, most durable perennial available. Compact habit is perfect for rock gardens, containers, and border edges. Also makes a good small-scale ground cover. Excellent for sturdy cut flowers. Virtually indestructible thrives even in the worst conditions. 2004: Wow. Great growth rate and mass of flowers. No care needed, continuous flush of flowers all season. Doing great in a partly shady site also.
CULTIVATION: Fertile, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Deadhead to prolong flowering. Drought tolerant.
PROPAGATION: Sow in a seedbed in midspring. Will flower the first year. Divide in early spring. Root basal cuttings in spring.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Slugs and snails feed on plants. Bacterial spot, rust, flower blight, aster yellows, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and many fungal spots can occur.
