Each flower and tree is interesting to see ~ watch closely as each unfolds.
 

When I plant containers - I try to use selections that will either return year to year (perennnials) or provide birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies with some of their favorite treats.

Some of my favorites are Astilbe, Butterfly Bush and Sedums. Astilbe provides fern like leaves with the bonus bloom. An old container with a cracked bottom - set in the garden bed makes a perfect home for a Butterlfy Bush. Hens & Chicks scattered in hanging baskets or containers - provide a pleasing care-free container whether in full sun or shade.
